The electric department has two full-time employees, Denny Harbour and Brigen Bulechek, and a full-time employee that is shared with the Electric Plant, David Hall. These men are in charge of supplying electricity to a total of 1443 homes and businesses. Their responsibilities also include 22 miles of overhead wire, three miles of underground wire, 533 street/security lights, and 1850 utility poles.


The City of Bloomfield purchased a steam-driven light plant in 1892 to begin its municipal ownership. Over 100 years later the City Light Plant consists of six diesel engines whose name plate capacity is 8600 kilowatts per hour.
